Introduction
I am a beginner when it comes to writing. However, I love to write and have since I was a young girl. I started writing from California to my grandparents, and family members, living on the East Coast. I was afraid to keep a journal at home because I had no privacy. With two brothers, and an overly protective father, a girl could not breathe. I would isolate myself in my bedroom. While sitting at a mirrored vanity, I would write for hours. There was a pen pal that I wrote to in France, old and new boyfriends, my best friend Cheryl in Kansas and especially my grandmother and Aunt Vera. By writing to my grandparents, I felt the letters were confidential. I wish I could remember what I wrote to them. Old age has robbed me of some memories and they are no longer living.
As our daughter developed her writing skills I encouraged her to write and keep a journal. I though she should write down who her friend were, what you did, and where she wants to go in life. She did not understand that I was trying to express the importance of writing. Besides, I moved so many times as a young persons, I wish I had a journal of the different placed I lived and the friends I made. Journals give you a record of your life so when you're old you have something to remember. Sometime, journals can bring you tears or something to laugh about.
As part of my Advanced Technical Writing class at KU, I created this journal. I hope to showcase my work as a writer, and solicit your comments and ideas.
What am I Doing Today?
This fall I became an online Christian Bookstore representative with...

Paul and I are excited about this opportunity. The person who started this business was looking for a way to finance ministry. Paul and I both want to work full time in ministry some day. Together we have been serving God and his church for nearly thirty years as bi-vocational ministers. We are asking God to supply so we can become full time in the work of the Lord. We are praying that God will use this as a took to support our ministry as we tell others about Christ.
I will be continuing my education student at the University of Kansas in the Spring of 2008, a wife, and a mother of a twenty-two year old daughter. I like to sing and watch people dance. I enjoy the theater, classical music, the blues, country, and gospel music. However, I have not acquired a taste for rap music.
In addition to my personal life, I currently have two jobs. I am a minister’s wife, Ask Pastor Paul, who is currently attending Midwestern Baptist Seminary and looking for a full-time pastorate. I look forward to the opportunities in sharing my husbands ministry in the area of music. I sing and play the piano. I have also taught beginning piano lessons. I'm currently an office manager for Industrial Supply, Inc , in Kansas City, Kansas. I hope to use my education and experience in technical writing at ISI as business grows. I can't forget my friends at AOS. Before going to ISI, AOS was a part of my life. I got to know the family more by working for them and learn what good people they are. I also made some good friend at Alexander Open Systems, along my journey.
Future Goals
I have three dreams, maybe four, for my life:
In 1977 I had to drop out of college due to personal reason. If you read my short story "Home for the Holiday" you my understand some of my reason for not returning. So, it's very important for me to finish my B. G. S in Language, Literature and Writing. Mostly for personal satisfaction, then there's self improvement, and making myself marketable for business management. I would like to complete my degree before our daughter graduates from KSU. I have two years; so far I'm on track.
I like to sing for personal enjoyment. I have done some performing, weddings, community Forth of July social events, church soloists, corporate company picnic celebrations, and Christmas charity events for foster children. If I were fortunate enough to get an opportunity to cut an album that would be great! I would like to write a novel about my life since I have learned that to have a story you have to have conflict. Just let me say that I have a lot to write about.
Ultimately, my dream is to become financially independent so I can take care of my daughters children. Scripture tells use that we are to leave an inheritance to our children’s children. I hope to do that through my friends and financial advisor at Primerica Financial Services.
I want to encourage you to keep writing. If you have not started with a journal do so today, it’s never too late. Thank you for visiting my web page. I hope to hear from you soon.
God Bless!
Lana
